SHOP BY TRADE

Nothing here is a generic slogan resized for a different job. Each of the five collections was drawn against one trade, its tools and its language, then checked against what the blank can actually print.

Electricians

You are building a trade, not just going to work.

A heavyweight tee for days off, stickers for the water bottle and the lunchbox, and a tumbler that survives the van. Bought after an exam passes, mostly.

Welders

The only light in the shop at five in the morning is hers.

Black heavyweight tees, an embroidered hoodie with a blank year for the shop she started in, and a tumbler for the early shift.

Carpenters

The grain follows her hand.

An ivory tee that does not cheapen her own brand, an embroidered crewneck, a tote, and a poster for the shop wall.

She fixes the weather.

A breathable dark tee for rooftops, a crewneck for cold winter mornings up there, and an embroidered cap the whole crew will wear.

Runs the job. Raises the crew.

Embroidered crewnecks and hoodies with the title and year left blank, so the piece says what she actually is.

Shopping for someone else?

You do not need to know the jargon. You need to know her job.

She works as a electrician

Turn-out season is June, and parents fly in for it. The embroidered crewneck carries a blank year field, because that ceremony is the one that gets kept.

Electricians

She works as a welder

The mug is the one a nine-year-old picks out, usually through a dad, usually the week before Mother's Day. It talks about her trade, not about her being somebody's wife.

Welders

She works as a carpenter

Clients give the Dovetail Study poster at the end of a project. It is the piece that works framed in someone else's hallway.

Carpenters

She works as an HVAC tech

A partner buys the tumbler. A kid buys the mug — a cloud and a sun put back together with a wrench, which is roughly what she does.

HVAC techs

She runs a site or a crew

Crew and committee orders from twelve units, with proofs before anything prints. Children buy the ornament; mentees buy the mug.
